Location
The Kalahari has many names but they all come down to the same things, waterless place or place of great thurst. This does however not distract from the fact that the desert is beautiful.
Despite it's name, the Kalahari is not a true desert because of erratic rainfall and The Makgadikgadi Pans in Botswana and the Etosha Pans in Namibia are seasonally inhundated.
The Kalahari desert is situated in the southwestern, Sub-Sahara Africa. The only river, the Okavango, flows into a delta which offers fantastic wildlife. Other wildlife such as cheetah, elephant, lion and leopard can still be seen. Because of the different vegetation the Kalahari offers unique safari opportunities. There are many wonderful game reserves in the Kalahari region that offer fantastic viewing opportunity and five star service.
