Johannesburg – Gautrain, the multibillion rand rapid rail project, will formally be launched on Saturday, erasing any doubts that the first phase of the R25bn project will be finished in time before the 2010 FIFA World Cup gets under way next week.

Cape Town - South African passengers flying to the northern parts of Europe can expect cancellations or delays in their flight schedule as ash from a volcano in Iceland has closed airspace in that region.
Although details are still sketchy, South African Airlines with European routes are expected to cancel flights affected by a four-hour restriction from 11:00 GMT until at least 17:00 GMT.
According to Airports Company South Africa's Deidre Hendricks at least one SAA evening flight to London has been confirmed as cancelled.
