Rocktail Bay Upgrades

SAFARI & Adventure Co. has announced that Rocktail Bay Lodge, located in KZN’s Maputaland Coastal Forest Reserve, will be closed from April 30, with plans to increase the size of Rocktail Beach Camp under way. By July 1, a further five rooms will have been added. These will be suites that can also be used as family rooms.The camp has a dining room, bar, lounge with a wrap-around veranda and a pool. Activities include diving, snorkelling and other other beach adventures.

Tourism Minister for South Africa

When President elect Jacob Zuma is inaugurated this week, a new standalone tourism minister will make his or her introduction into cabinet. The Department of Environmental Affairs and Tourism (DEAT) will be split into two ministries that will deal with these issues on separate playing fields.

Surf is up in South Africa

Its that time again, surf is cranking along the point breaks on our coast,  from way up the west coast to right up the east coast.  Epic surf conditions at the moment, no wind, glassy conditions, consistent swell.  I had some surf buddies who spent a week or more on some epic west coast surf trip, check the pic.  Get out there and get some surf.  Conditions just right for lots of "board meetings"

Hobie Tigers Race Offshore Race

Hobie Tigers joined the Mykonos offshore race on Friday,  14 Tigers registered for the event.  We launched off Milnerton beach for an exciting downwind start in 25 knots of wind.  We immediately saw one or two casualties in the first few minutes of the race.  With spinnakers up most raced off to the shore at Big Bay.  The wind died to 4-5 knots and forced most of us to hug and work the coastline looking for a bit more wind.  The wind came up and from Koeberg th

Mykonos Offshore Race

This weekend saw the biggest fleet in the history of the Mykonos Offshore Race from Cape Town to Langebaan. With 80 yachts crossing the start line from Cape Town in good conditions, winds of 22-25 knots in Table Bay.  A spectacle that will remain in my mind with 80 keel boats with their spinnakers up.

2010 World Cup South Africa

FIFA kicked off the ticket sales process for the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ with the launch of the first sales phase, which will last from 20 February to 31 March 2009.

Sunset over Africa

February in the Cape is certainly one of the best months, warm evenings with spectacular sunsets over the west coast.  I captured this picture last week of just one of the sunsets that we have been having.  Sunsets in Africa are just incredible!  Join us for this experience.
